Welcome to Cameron's 41st Forensics Institute

On behalf of the Department of Communication and the Cameron University Forensics team, let me extend the warmest of welcomes to you.  We are so excited that you will be joining us for the 41st Annual Forensics Institute at Cameron University.  In the last 40 years, thousands of campers have come through our doors, and leave fully prepared for the upcoming debate and forensics season.  Our staff are hard at work to make your Cameron Forensics experience rewarding, fun, and educational.

Our staff are experienced and successful in their field, and most have dedicated their lives to help students like you hone your interpretation, presentation, and debate skills.  While we would need pages to list all of the success of our award-winning staff, I do want to just highlight a few from the 2014 NSDA National Tournament.  Our LD Debate sessions in 2014 were staffed by : Lawrence Zhou (jr. staff)- National Champion in LD debate, Jamie Franzese (jr. staff)- 4th place in LD debate, and Mr. Kasey Harrison (Advanced LD Coordinator)- coached the National Runner up in LD debate.  Our CX Debate sessions were staffed by: Will Thompson (jr. staff)- Commentary National Champion, and Ms. Brittany Hayes (sr. staff): coached the Commentary National Champion.  Our Individual Events sessions were staffed by: Swayde Watson (jr. staff): 3rd place Poetry, Mr. Billy Elles (Beginning IE Coordinator)-coached 3rd place poetry, and Mr. Ryan Swartz (sr. staff)- coached 5th place Humorous Interp.  We would love to have you join us in 2015 to learn from the best in their craft!

For those of you who are returning to camp this year, we are so glad to have you back! We would love to hear about the success you have had this previous academic year.  Please email us at forensics@cameron.edu and let us know your success stories! We would love to highlight some of those on the camp website!

The Cameron Forensics Institute is open to all middle school and high school students who are interested in: Individual Events, Public Forum Debate, Cross Examination Debate, and Lincoln Douglas debate.  As in years past, we will offer the same excellence in instruction, an ample amount of practice rounds, and provide small staff to camper ratios.  When comparing Speech and Debate camps this summer,  you will be hard pressed to find a camp that offers a more affordable experience.  In addition to keeping with the strong tradition of excellence provided at camp, I do want to highlight some changes and additions for camp this year:

  • 1 combined week of camp this year the week of July 12th-17th  and will offer multiple divisions across all sessions.  Enrollment is on a first come/first serve basis, and dorm rooms will fill up quickly.  Enroll today to reserve your spot this summer.
  • An Early Bird registration discount is available to all attendees who register and pay their deposit by June 1st of 2015!
  • Two convenient ways to register: (a) Register and pay online, (b) Mail in your registration and payment

Please browse the website...you will find camp schedules, information packets, links to register and upload forms, menus, campus maps, staff information, etc.  If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to hosting you at Cameron's 41st Forensics Institute this summer.

Sincerely,

Sarah Collins
